The Gaddy Law Firm History
The Early Years
Susan Gaddy opened The Gaddy Law Firm, LLC in Greenville, SC in 1999 upon returning from Washington, DC where she worked for the Federal Judiciary. A native of Greenville, and second-generation lawyer, she developed a general civil practice that focused on business law, real estate litigation, creditors' rights and bankruptcy litigation, construction law, and securities litigation. She also handled business formations, real estate closings, employment discrimination defense, probate administration, and personal injury.
In 2003 and 2004, Susan Gaddy served as Special Counsel for the Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Trustee for one of the largest bankruptcies ever filed (HomeGold Financial/ Carolina Investors) in the State of South Carolina in the largest securities' fraud scam in the history of the state.
When this mortgage lender filed bankruptcy, Ms. Gaddy and the Bankruptcy Trustee's legal team pursued claims against the professionals (lawyers and auditors and investment firm) along with the Officers and Directors for this publicly-traded company where 8,000 people lost $300 million dollars. The United States Bankruptcy Court approved and appointed her as Special Counsel for the Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Trustee. The United States District Court approved a global mediated settlement for $41.8 million dollars distributed through her client.
South Carolina Lawyers Weekly has featured Susan on its cover for her work in defending a fraud construction law case against a builder. SC Lawyers Weekly also featured her work on its cover for successful resolution of a residential mold case against D.R. Horton. In 2001, the Supreme Court of SC appointed her as one of the youngest Attorneys to Assist Disciplinary Counsel in the State.
The Charleston Years
In 2006, the Firm opened a Charleston office to narrow the practice to corporate work and served as General Counsel to a federal contractor with significant labor issues, non-profit organizations, and manufacturing distribution businesses.
In 2009, Susan began working in real estate loss mitigation along the coast of South Carolina. A real estate investor herself, she has witnessed the significant changes to the mortgage lending and loan servicing industry.
Since opening the Mt Pleasant office in 2011, The Gaddy Law a Firm has represented clients throughout the Lowcountry with a focus on real estate litigation and banking customers with legal issues. Out-of-state residents often need assistance with SC legal issues.
Our team approach will work with you to develop legal and financial strategies for moving forward with confidence and less worry.
